Stocks Ended Mixed, Nasdaq Set Fresh Closing High

U.S. stocks ended mixed on Monday, with the Nasdaq setting fresh closing high as Apple jumps to a record, ahead of a busy week that will include a slew of corporate earnings results, economic data, FOMC meeting and debate over the Biden administration’s $1.9T stimulus proposal. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 36.98 points, or 0.12%, to 30,960.00. The S&P 500 was up 13.89 points, or 0.36%, to 3,855.36. The Nasdaq Composite advanced92.93 points, or 0.69%, to 13,635.99.

Oil futures finished higher on Monday, lifted by risks to global supplies as Iraq reportedly plans to cut production and Libya sees disruptions to crude exports due to a pay dispute. West Texas Intermediate crude for March delivery rose 50 cents, or 1%, to settle at $52.77 a barrel. March Brent crude added 47 cents, or nearly 0.9%, at $55.88 a barrel.
